Top 5 Types of Proposals

You will only get/ be proposed to once in your life (hopefully!) and it’s a significant milestone for any couple.

Every proposal is special and a moment you will never forget but there are five types of marriage proposals that have captured hearts around the world and created a truly unforgettable experience.

So if you’re looking for a bit of help, we have your back…

1. CLASSIC

To make it simple, it’s the type of proposal you see in most romantic films. The candle lit dinner at a favourite restaurant or where you had your first date. The beach at sunset or a romantic stroll in the park.

These proposals are super romantic and leverage timeless elements of romance like flowers, music and intimate settings.

BUT don’t just choose any random location. Choose somewhere that means something to you as a couple. Play songs that mean something to you as a couple and a heartfelt speech (or personalised song ;)) never goes amiss.

2. PUBLIC

It’s definitely not everyone, but for some people, being the centre attention is what a proposal should be all about.

They are grand and spectacular and can often include family and friends. The shared excitement will create the ultimate celebratory atmosphere.

A music event, a concert or any significant public place. You could hire our personalised singing team, or even a whole flash mob (do you know we do that too?) to really make you front and centre and have onlookers sharing your joy.

Please just make sure your partner would be comfortable with all the public attention and again, make sure you have someone there to capture it perfectly!

3. ADVENTURE

Admittedly not for everyone, but definitely for the adrenaline junkie couples amongst us. If you love exploring together then it makes sense to propose on top of a mountain, scuba diving, skydiving or any shared adventurous activity.

Just make sure you’re picking an activity that both of you will enjoy. Throwing your future husband or wife out of a plane when they are scared of heights may not be the best idea.

NOTE FOR THIS ONE: Adventurous moments may be hard to capture. You can’t scuba dive, propose and take nice images of you both at the same time (unless you’re a superhero) so talk to the activity provider before so they can be on hand to take the pictures.

4. HOME

There’s no place like home right? A place where everyone can feel complete comfort and peace.

A home proposal is intimate and personal and allows for a relaxed and authentic atmosphere, making the moment feel incredibly special…

…just ask our CEO Alex and see the picture as proof.

But just like the image, go the extra mile with candles, flowers and music. Incorporate personal touches and make sure no one is just going to randomly turn up and ruin the moment - sorry mum, not today.

5. DESTINATION

Shameless plug: We can even provide personalised song videos which start with a montage of pictures of you guys! The personalised experience from the comfort of your own home!

Who could say no to a beautiful or exotic location? The city of love Paris or a secluded beach in Bali.

A destination proposal combines the excitement of travel and the romance of proposal. Imagine the backdrop? But as always, don’t just pick somewhere random. Ideally choose somewhere that means something and make sure that you have a beautiful backdrop - with a photographer on hand! Make sure you personalise the proposal with touches unique to you.

Whatever you decide, we know that your proposal will be a unique reflection of your love story and the most important element is the commitment behind the proposal. But please just make sure that the moment resonates with both you and your partner, creating a truly unforgettable memory.
